The Neubergthal Heritage Foundation is currently seeking applications for the role of part-time Administrator/Secretary. This is a salaried position; salary to be negotiated.

About Us:

Neubergthal village is a National Historic Site near Altona, Manitoba, Treaty 1 Territory,  renowned for its priceless collection of Mennonite housebarns and other buildings. Our mission is to preserve and uncover new aspects of this heritage, as well as to find appropriate, interesting, and relevant ways to share and present this heritage. Incorporated in 1997, the NHF is a non-profit organization registered in the province of Manitoba. The Neubergthal Heritage Foundation (NHF) is governed by a board of directors.

Job Description:

As Administrator/Secretary, you handle these tasks:

    • Attend all board meetings

    • Keep records of minutes from board and committee meetings

    • Distribute agenda, notes, meeting minutes to board members

    • Maintain all files (digital and physical) relating to NHF

    • Together with Chairperson, source grant opportunities and create grant applications

    • Together with Chairperson, create a fundraising model/program

    • Maintain mailing lists

    • Manage social media and website

    • Seek promotional opportunities in broadcast and print media

    • Handle correspondence with public (tour inquiries, etc.)

    • Manage communication with renters (weddings, family gatherings, corporate events)

    • Manage finances together with Treasurer and Chairperson

    • Together with Chairperson and Tours Convenor, assist in managing the role of the grant-facilitated summer student

    • Assist with the planning of educational and major fundraising events

    • Manage communication with Custodian, Cleaners, and Tours Convenor

    • Build and maintain connections with local Indigenous communities; seek opportunities for education, engagement, and reconciliation

    • Contribute ideas/material to semi-annual publication, Neubergthal Notes

Qualifications:

We are looking for a candidate with these qualifications:

    • Excellent communication and leadership skills

    • Self-motivated

    • Flexible schedule

    • Creative vision

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, Goole Docs, Zoom, Squarespace, Instagram, and Facebook

    • Knowledge of board structure and governance

    • Knowledge of Mennonite history and culture

    • Experience in a managerial or administrative role an asset

    • Education in a relevant field (undergraduate degree in history, anthropology, arts administration, marketing, or communications) an asset

    • Must have a valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
